COUNTRIES AND CONTINENTS

  1. The planet we live on is the Earth. 
  2. The Earth is round. 
  3. If youlook at the Earth from space, you will be able to see land, seas, oceans, continents and even countries. 
  4. There are four oceans and six continents. 
  5. The continents are:Eurasia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica, North America and SouthAmerica. 
  6. The continents are very large.
  7.  Oceans and seas wash them and separate them from each other. 
  8. There are usually many countries on each continent. 
  9. There are more than 40 countries in Africa, but there is only one large country in Australia. 
  10. It has got almost the same name as the continent. 
  11. Let’s name some countries from each continent: the Russian Federation (Russia), the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy are in Europe; China, India, Vietnam are in Asia; Canada and the United States are in America; Egypt is an African country.
  12. The largest country in the world is the Russian Federation (Russia). 
  13. The smallest country is the Vatican.  People of different nationalities live in these countries. Theyspeak different languages. 
  14. Each country has its national flag, anthem and its own traditions and customs.

MY FLAT

THE WEATHER IN THE UK

  1. The climate in the United Kingdom is generally mild because of the Gulf Stream and it is usually described as cool, humid and changeable.
  2. The weather is so changeable indeed that the English often say that they have no climate but only weather.
  3. The English also say that they have three kinds of weather: when it rains in the morning, when it rains in the afternoon or when it rains all day long. 
  4. The weather is never too hot or too cold. 
  5. Winters are very mild. 
  6.  Sometimes it snows and snow melts quickly and the English seldom have “white Christmas”. 
  7. In fact in the South of England grass remains green all  the year round.
  8. This humid mild climate is good for plants. The trees and flowers begin to blossom early in spring.
  9.  Some of them have become symbols in the UK. 
  10. You may know that poppy is the symbol of peace, the red rose is the national emblem of England, the thistle is the national emblem of Scotland. 
  11.  The daffodils and the leek are the emblems of Wales and the shamrock is the emblem of Ireland. 

SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ENGLAND
  1.  Children in England attend secondary school between the ages of 11 and 16.
  2. They study a lot of different subjects like Maths, Science, Geography, and Art
  3. From the ages of 14 to 16 all pupils prepare for their GCSEs.
  4. Most schools in England have a school uniform.
  5. Children may have up to 8 lessons a day.
  6. They have a one-hour lunch break when they can catch up with their friends
  7. A lot of pupils do after- school activities.
  8. Some are members of their school's football or hockey team and compete with other schools.
  9. Other pupils are in the school choir or play an instrument in the school orchestra.
  10. They can also join different clubs such as the art, drama or computer club which give them the complete learning experience.
ANCIENT EGYPTIANS
  1. Ancient Egyptians lived along the banks of the River Nile in northeast Africa.
  2. Pharaos ruled this great and powerful empire for more that 2500 years.
  3. The Ancient Egyptians lived in houses made of mud bricks, but they also built houses and gigantic piramids from stone.
  4. They worked as farmers and artists.
  5. They hunted animals and went fishing on the River Nile.
  6. They also had boats and transported food and other goods along the river.
  7. In their free time they played music (musical instruments) or board games.
  8. Only wealthy boys could attend school.
  9. They studied hyeroglyphics.
  10. Ancient Egypt had a great civilisation which many people still study and admire today.
